Charity supported activities during the week for Fight against HIV/AIDS December 2024 in OHRID Macedonia in collaboration with Crven Krst – Ohrid/Red Cross – Ohrid
Within the framework of the Week for the Fight against HIV/AIDS which is marked under the motto “Knowledge is the best prevention against HIV infection” Red Cross Ohrid conducted several activities.
During this week, lecturer on HIV/AIDS Dr. Jovanka Sturlakova Koroveshoska conducted an interactive educational lecture for volunteers from the Youth Club at the premises of the Ohrid Red Cross.
Typical lectures were distributed in primary and secondary schools in order to familiarize students with the basic knowledge of the HIV virus, ways of transmission and protection.
Also in the past period, an educational lecture on sexually transmitted infections was held with students from ООУ “Кочо Рацин”- Охрид with Dr. Jovanka S. Cow-hound. The aim of this workshop is to increase the knowledge of young people on the topic of AIDS and all that it encompasses, to encourage children to talk among themselves and among themselves and their parents on such, still “taboo” topics in our society, i.e. the goal is to raise awareness society not to neglect this topic because sexually transmitted infections are much more common lately.
The activities organized annually on the occasion of World HIV/AIDS Day and the HIV/AIDS Week aim to draw public attention to the importance of prevention and early detection of HIV infection.
