- The prevention of injuries, illnesses and chronic conditions, and their resulting disabilities in Canadian children who experience a higher-than-normal incidence of poor health and nutrition, mental health problems, developmental problems, congenital conditions, disability, injury, abuse or neglect.
- To assist the international struggle against HIV infection in children and youth through preventing the transmission of maternal HIV infection to fetuses or neonates.
- The prevention of Diarrheal diseases causing infant mortality by promoting oral rehydration methods and longer breastfeeding.
- The prevention of Measles with immunization.
- The prevention of Hepatitis B in children with immunization.
- The prevention and treatment of streptococcal infection in children and youth and thus, reduce the incidence of Rheumatic Fever.
- The provision of logistic support in the struggle against contagious diseases in children and youth financing equipment for:
- Bacteriology and viral laboratories.
- The Cold Chain for vaccines.
- Epidemical survey vehicles.
